Mountain High Running Camp assembles a staff of national class coaches and elite runners to learn from

         Camp Director Scott Simmons
Coach Simmons has won six National Coach of the Year Awards and led his teams to five National Titles. He also coached Fernando Cabada to an American Record and coaches the American Distance Project.

Master’s Degree of Sports Science / Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology
- Certified by USA Track & Field as a Level I, II and III Coach for distance events
- Coached 7 US National Team Qualifier and One US National Record
Co-Camp Director Petra Staskova Simmons
Petra continues to train and compete professionally and served as an assistant coach at Virginia Intermont College. Petra was the 1990 World Junior Champion, a mutiple-time collegiate All-American and was a Slovak Republic national team member from 1989-2003.
Her accomplishments include:
	•	4:25 for 1,500- meters
	•	16:34 for 5,000-meters
	•	34:50 for 10,000-meters
	•	Slovak National Record Holder for the Mile
                  Sammy Nyamongo (Kenya)
Sammy is a camp favorite because of his fun loving attitude, his fast feet and his singing and guitar playing. Sammy has been competing for over fifteen years around the US and the World.
His accomplishments include:
	•	3:59 for the Mile
	•	13:58 for 5,000-meters
	•	34:50 for 10,000-meters
	•	Former NAIA Steepl-Chase Record Holder
	•	World University Games 3k Steeplechase Champion
	•	Two-time Rocket City (Hunstville, AL) Marathon Champion (2005/07)
                  Solomon Kandie (Kenya)
Solomon is an elite Kenyan runner from Nairobi, Kenya who now trains in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He finished third in the NCAA steeplechase while competing for Tulane University and continues to train and compete to bring down his impressive personal bests. Solomon enjoys teaching young people about Kenyan culture and encourages them to try their best.
His bests times are:
	•	1500 - 3:47
	•	3,000m Steeplechase - 8:31
	•	1/2 Marathon - 1:04:00
Sammy Chelanga quickly became a camp favorite in 2008 and returned in 2010 with his fun attitude, fantastic life story and incredible future. 
The young Kenyan won the NCAA DI Cross Country Championships and broke the collegiate record for 10k in 2009-10. Sam’s best times so far are:
  13:25 5,000 meters
  27:08 10,000 meters
  7:59 3,000-meters
